National Ski Academy (NSA) is seeking volunteer board members to join the organization. We encourage interested and qualified candidates to submit their details here, by March 10, 2025. NSA is particularly interested in candidates with alpine ski racing, accounting, legal, fundraising, and/or community partnerships, experience.
About NSA
NSA is Canada’s only independent secondary school focused on the pursuit of alpine ski racing excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth. Our programs have helped to develop Ontario Team and National Team ski racers and many of the top coaches in the country. Our home base is located at 200 Oak Street in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada and provides state of the art facilities necessary for Canadian and international alpine athletes to pursue their ski racing dreams. The 12,000 square foot mansion offers classrooms, a gymnasium and weight room, tuning room, residence for 20+ student athletes, a study hall, and a kitchen with a Cordon Bleu trained chef. Our local on-hill training venues are across The Blue Mountains/Collingwood Area. A significant component of our programming is travel to ski resorts throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and South America, to access world class alpine ski racing and training opportunities.
Board Responsibilities
Board member candidates should be passionate about youth and supporting their efforts to pursue dreams of high-performance athletics, a post-secondary pathway, and efforts to become engaged community members.
The Board of Directors provides oversight, sets the strategic direction of the organization and is accountable for organizational results. We aspire to be a Board that is diverse and inclusive, representative of the community and audiences we serve, and has significant experience related to high-performance sport, alpine ski racing, and independent school education.
NSA’s Board of Directors meets monthly. Meetings generally take place online, in the evening. Members are also expected to serve on one standing committee (Finance and Audit; Fundraising; Governance and Human Resources; Marketing and Communications). Board members can expect a time commitment of three to six hours monthly. Service on NSA’s Board of Directors is without renumeration.
Selection Process
A three-step process will be led by a selection committee of the Board of Directors.
Step 1 – Applicants will submit an expression of interest form by clicking here, by March 10, 2025.
Step 2 – Short-listed applicants will be invited to an interview with the selection committee.
Step 3 – Successful applicants will be confirmed within a month of interview date and the new Director will be invited to join the next BOD meeting.
